Visakhapatnam is set to host the high-stakes decider of the India–South Africa three-match ODI series. With both teams tied 1-1 after two high-scoring contests, Saturday’s match at the ACA–VDCA Stadium has gained immense attention.
After suffering a 0-2 whitewash in the Test series, India is under pressure to clinch the ODI series and provide relief to its supporters. Meanwhile, South Africa enters the final match with great momentum after successfully chasing a massive 359-run target in Raipur.
India has not lost both Test and ODI series at home in the same tour since 1986–87, making this contest even more significant.
The team will once again rely on senior players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Kohli is in exceptional form, scoring a fifty and two centuries in his last three ODIs. His record at Visakhapatnam is equally impressive, with three centuries in seven ODIs and a staggering average of 97.83.
Rohit, too, has delivered consistent performances recently, but concerns remain over young opener Jaiswal, who has struggled against left-arm pace and has been inconsistent in the field. Ruturaj Gaikwad's recent hundred adds stability, while Washington Sundar’s lack of form raises questions about team balance. Tilak Varma is being considered as a batting and spin option, with Rishabh Pant also in contention.
Among the pacers, only Arshdeep Singh has been economical, while the others have leaked runs. Their performance will be crucial for India’s chances in the decider.
