Former India cricketer and ex-head coach Ravi Shastri made striking remarks after India’s defeat to South Africa in the T20 World Cup Super 8 clash. He said the loss could actually benefit the team, noting that had India won, it might have moved forward with overconfidence, which could have proven costly at a crucial stage. Shastri described the early exposure of the team’s weaknesses as a positive development.
He advised that the Suryakumar Yadav-led side must work hard following the setback. Shastri urged head coach Gautam Gambhir to thoroughly analyze where India failed, identify areas for improvement, and assess whether new players are needed. He emphasized that only by avoiding past mistakes can Team India emerge as champions in the tournament, expressing hope that the team will bounce back stronger in the upcoming matches.
