After suffering a whitewash in the Test series against South Africa, Team India made a strong comeback in the ODI format and clinched the series. Now, the focus shifts firmly to the T20 series, with the fourth match scheduled to be played in Lucknow on Wednesday.
In the third T20 at Dharamsala, Indian bowlers delivered an impressive performance, bundling out South Africa for just 117 runs before securing a comfortable win. The Lucknow pitch is also expected to assist bowlers, making India’s bowling attack a key factor once again.
However, concerns remain over the batting form of captain Suryakumar Yadav and vice-captain Shubman Gill. Suryakumar has managed only 29 runs across three matches in the series, while Gill has scored just three runs more. Although Gill spent some time at the crease in the third T20, he could only manage 28 runs off 28 balls. Suryakumar, too, failed to make a significant impact.
With the World Cup approaching, the lack of form from both the captain and vice-captain is worrying for the team. Fans will be hoping they step up in this crucial encounter.
Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, and Hardik Pandya are currently in good form. Jasprit Bumrah is unlikely to feature again due to fitness concerns. India is expected to retain the same playing XI. Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana, and Hardik will lead the pace attack, while Varun Chakravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav handle spin duties.
Facing the risk of losing the series, South Africa is expected to put up a strong fight in this must-win game.
