India have already clinched the ODI series against the West Indies with one match still to play. With the third ODI being a dead rubber, the team management could experiment with different combinations keeping the 2027 ODI World Cup in mind. Former India batter Ajinkya Rahane said he would like to see one or two changes, including the return of Mohammed Siraj and Nitish Kumar Reddy. Rahane felt that giving Nitish an opportunity could help build his confidence if he is part of India’s World Cup plans, while there is no need to change the successful opening combination of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill just to accommodate Yashasvi Jaiswal.
Former wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik also backed the possibility of changes in the final ODI. He said Naman Dhir’s injury could force a change, while one of the pacers could be rested to bring Siraj into the playing XI. Karthik also suggested that Nitish Kumar Reddy, Yashasvi Jaiswal or Dhruv Jurel could be given an opportunity. However, he noted that the team management could also opt to field the strongest side with the aim of completing a 3-0 series sweep.
