Suryakumar Yadav has created history by becoming the third captain to lead India to a T20 World Cup title. Overall, considering both One Day and Twenty-Twenty formats, he has become the fifth captain to guide India to a world championship. Impressively, he achieved this feat in the very first tournament after taking charge as captain. However, Suryakumar himself did not have a remarkable tournament with the bat and managed to play a key innings only in the match against the United States.
Amid reports suggesting that he might retire from cricket after the T20 World Cup due to his struggles with scoring runs, Suryakumar responded during a press conference after the final match on Sunday alongside coach Gautam Gambhir. Reacting to a question about retirement, he said that everything is going well at the moment and questioned why he should think about retirement now. He also praised his teammates, calling Jasprit Bumrah a once-in-a-generation bowler and describing players like Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma as top-class performers who can win matches for the team.
