Senior cricketer Ajinkya Rahane has indirectly criticized head coach Gautam Gambhir amid growing concerns over Team India’s poor performances at home. Rahane pointed out that excessive experimentation in team combinations has contributed to recent defeats, noting that India has lost five of its last nine ODIs. As the team prepares with the World Cup in mind, he stressed the importance of giving players clarity and confidence instead of frequent changes.
Reacting to India’s 0-3 ODI series loss against New Zealand at home, Rahane said fans always expect the team to win, especially on home soil. He acknowledged that New Zealand played outstanding cricket across all departments but emphasized the need for introspection. With India not scheduled to play another ODI series for the next six months, Rahane urged the team management and coaching staff to analyze mistakes and ensure they are not repeated.
