With November 15 being the deadline for IPL teams to finalize their retention lists, several franchises have begun making key trade moves. Sunrisers Hyderabad have now completed their first trade of the season by sending Mohammed Shami to the Lucknow Super Giants. Shami had a strong IPL 2024 season with Gujarat Titans, prompting SRH to buy him in 2025 for ₹10 crore. However, his performance dipped significantly last season with a high economy rate and fewer wickets, leading Hyderabad to trade him.
This move is expected to boost Hyderabad’s auction purse ahead of the December mega auction. Meanwhile, reports also claim that SRH might release wicketkeeper-batter Heinrich Klaasen, which has shocked many fans. If true, this would be a far bigger surprise for the franchise. All eyes are now on the final confirmed retention list to see how SRH shapes its squad for IPL 2026.
