The South African batsmen easily chased down the huge target set by Team India. Opener Aiden Markram (110) and other batsmen also performed well and made a game of it for the Indian bowlers. They collectively set a huge target of 358 runs.
Batting first after winning the toss, Team India scored 358 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the stipulated 50 overs. South Africa chased down that target with 4 balls to spare for the loss of six wickets.
Chasing a target of 358 runs, South Africa lost a wicket early on. Opener Quinton de Kock retreated to Arshdeep's bowling at an individual score of 8 runs. However, Markram at the other end played aggressively. He hit a century with 4 sixes and 10 fours to pave the way for South Africa's chase. He built the innings with captain Temba Bavuma (46). The two added 101 runs for the second wicket. The pair was separated by Paridhin Krishna. Bavuma was dismissed. Markram also retreated shortly after.
Even after the loss of two wickets in quick succession, South Africa did not falter. Britzke (68) and Bravis (54 off 34 balls) put on a 92-run partnership for the fourth wicket. South Africa came close to the target. In the end, Bosch (26 not out) completed the formality. The Indian bowlers could not restrain the Safari batters at all.
