Former India captain Sourav Ganguly has taken up a new responsibility with Delhi Capitals, being appointed as the franchise’s head coach ahead of the 2027 IPL season. The Delhi Capitals management announced the development on X, welcoming the former India skipper with the message, “Delhi, it’s time for Dadagiri.” This marks Ganguly’s first stint as the head coach of an IPL team.
Ganguly has shared a long association with Delhi Capitals, beginning his journey with the franchise as an advisor in 2019 before taking charge as Director of Cricket for both the men’s and women’s teams. With Delhi Capitals yet to win an IPL title and having struggled in recent seasons, the franchise has made changes to its coaching setup. Ganguly said his long-standing bond with Delhi makes the new role special and expressed confidence in working with the talented squad to build a stronger team for the upcoming season.
