Indian Premier League 2026 side Punjab Kings, who impressed fans with dominant performances in the first half of the season, are now struggling badly in the latter stages. The team suffered its fourth consecutive defeat after losing to Delhi Capitals by three wickets on Monday. Punjab posted a massive total of 210/5, but Delhi successfully chased the target in just 19 overs by scoring 211/7. Following the defeat in a crucial match, Punjab captain Shreyas Iyer openly admitted that poor bowling plans and execution in the death overs cost the team the game.
Speaking after the match, Shreyas Iyer said that 210 runs was more than enough on a pitch that offered seam movement and uneven bounce. He also explained why wrist-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal was not used during crucial phases of the innings. According to Iyer, the pitch favored pacers, and the team believed hard-length bowling from seamers would produce wickets. However, the strategy failed to deliver results. Iyer further admitted that the team’s planning and execution were below expectations, while fans on social media criticized his captaincy and bowling changes after the heartbreaking defeat.
