Indian young batting star Shafali Verma is currently in sensational form. In the ongoing five-match T20I series against Sri Lanka, she has smashed three half-centuries in four matches. If she continues the same momentum in the fifth and final T20 to be played on Tuesday in Thiruvananthapuram, Shafali is set to create a new world record.
The aggressive opener needs another 75 runs to become the highest run-scorer in a women’s international T20 series. So far in the series, Shafali has accumulated 236 runs. After being dismissed for just nine runs in the first match, she bounced back in style with three consecutive half-centuries 69, 79 and 79 showcasing her outstanding consistency and dominance.
Currently, the record for the most runs in a T20 international series is held by West Indies star Hayley Matthews, who scored 310 runs. Meanwhile, India has already won all the matches played so far in the series against Sri Lanka. Led by Harmanpreet Kaur, the Indian team is determined to seal the final match as well and complete a clean sweep.
