

Team India made history by winning their first-ever ICC Women’s ODI World Cup title, defeating South Africa by 52 runs in a thrilling final at DY Patil Stadium.
Batting first, India posted a strong total of 298/7, thanks to Shafali Verma’s outstanding knock of 87 runs. Making a sensational comeback to the squad, Shafali not only starred with the bat but also took two key wickets, earning her the Player of the Match award.
Deepti Sharma, India’s reliable all-rounder, once again proved her class with both bat and ball. She scored a crucial 58 runs and later took five wickets for 39 runs, guiding India to a historic victory. Her consistent performance throughout the tournament earned her the Player of the Series award.
South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt (101) fought bravely, but India’s bowlers, led by Deepti and Shafali, sealed the win as South Africa were bowled out for 246 runs.
With this victory, India lifted their maiden Women’s World Cup trophy, sparking celebrations across the country.
