Breaking into the Indian cricket team has become increasingly competitive, prompting players to make the most of their opportunities in domestic cricket. Sarfaraz Khan has strengthened his case for a return to the national side with an impressive 154-run knock for Mumbai against Himachal Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy. Himachal Pradesh were bowled out for just 140 in their first innings, while Mumbai responded with a commanding batting performance.
By the end of the third day’s first session, Mumbai had reached 528 for eight in 151 overs. Sarfaraz’s century was complemented by an unbeaten 117 from Akash Anand, while captain Siddhesh Lad scored 87 and Musheer Khan contributed 57. The knock marked Sarfaraz’s 18th first-class century. Meanwhile, Rinku Singh, representing Uttar Pradesh, scored 118 off 186 balls against Goa, delivering a strong performance in the longer format. Both players will be hoping their domestic performances help them earn further opportunities at the highest level.
