Former England all-rounder Samit Patel has praised Virat Kohli for his exceptional ability to chase targets, saying few players can match him in that department. Patel highlighted Kohli’s skill in adjusting his batting tempo according to match situations, describing it as one of his biggest strengths. He also lauded Rohit Sharma for his aggressive batting approach and leadership qualities, calling him one of India’s finest captains. Patel shared these views while speaking to the media during the 2026 World Championship of Legends (WCL) tournament.
Looking ahead to the 2027 ODI World Cup, Patel predicted that India, Australia, England and South Africa could reach the semi-finals. He also urged people to give young Indian batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi enough time to develop, pointing to his immense potential and the importance of learning from mistakes. Patel recalled Suryavanshi’s fearless six off England fast bowler Jofra Archer on the first ball he faced in his international T20 career, describing the shot as a moment that surprised the cricketing world.
