Team India batter and Maharashtra captain Ruturaj Gaikwad is in sensational form in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. In the match against Goa, batting at No.5, Gaikwad scored a brilliant 134 off 131 balls, including 8 fours and 6 sixes. His knock helped Maharashtra post a competitive total of 249 for 7 in 50 overs.
With this century, Ruturaj equalled Ankit Bawne’s record of the most centuries (15) in the history of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Remarkably, Gaikwad achieved this milestone in just 59 innings, while Bawne took over 100 matches to reach the same mark. This was also Ruturaj’s second century of the current season.
After Gaikwad and Bawne, Karnataka batters Devdutt Padikkal and Mayank Agarwal are next on the list with 13 centuries each. Padikkal has been outstanding this season with four hundreds already. Notably, Indian ODI legends like Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma, Sourav Ganguly, and MS Dhoni have never come close to this Vijay Hazare Trophy record.
