Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo has a heartwarming memory from his early days in Lisbon. At the age of 12, he left his family in Madeira to pursue football training in the Portuguese capital. During that period, he often struggled with hunger and would visit the back door of a McDonald’s with other young trainees at night. Edna and two other women reportedly helped the boys by giving them leftover burgers. Ronaldo has never forgotten their kindness and remains grateful for the support they offered him during a difficult phase of his childhood.
Years later, Ronaldo decided to find the women and thank them personally. In 2019, he expressed his wish to invite them to dinner but was unable to locate them at the time. Eventually, a woman named Edna Caldas came forward. When Ronaldo met her at Lisbon Airport nearly 20 years later, he immediately recognised her and warmly embraced her in front of his children, explaining how she had helped him when he was young and hungry. Ronaldo has since said his team has located the women and that he has something special planned for them, although he has yet to reveal the details.
