Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo has left the national team’s training camp ahead of the UEFA Nations League clash against Denmark. Ronaldo announced his decision on social media after head coach Jorge Jesus’ press conference and a conversation with Portuguese Football Federation president Pedro Proença. He said he would reveal the reasons for his departure at a later time.

The development follows Ronaldo being left on the bench during Portugal’s recent Nations League win over Norway. Jesus had also indicated that Ronaldo would not start against Denmark, while denying that there was a rift between them. The Portuguese Football Federation confirmed Ronaldo’s departure but said preparations for the upcoming matches would continue with the remaining squad.
