Former India captain Rohit Sharma has been officially appointed as the tournament ambassador for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, which will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka. Rohit led India to the 2024 T20 World Cup title and is one of the most successful players in the history of the format.
Rohit’s T20I career is nothing short of remarkable, scoring 4,231 runs at an average of 32.01 and a strike rate of 140.89. He is among the very few cricketers to feature in two championship-winning campaigns—first in the inaugural 2007 edition and later as captain in 2024. His standout knocks in 2007 (50* vs South Africa, 30* vs Pakistan) and his explosive 2024 performances (92 off 41 vs Australia, 57 off 39 vs England) remain iconic moments in T20 World Cup history.
Speaking about his new role, Rohit said it was an honour to be associated with the tournament once again, this time as the Brand Ambassador. He extended his best wishes to all participating teams and expressed hope that players would enjoy Indian hospitality and create lasting memories. The prestigious ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 will be held from February 7 to March 8, 2026.
