

Good news for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) fans. Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has clarified that RCB matches for the 2026 IPL season will be held at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. There was concern among the fans that the matches would be shifted to a different venue due to some recent incidents. But now they have got relief with the assurance of DK Shivakumar.
What is the real problem?
Recently, a stampede took place at the Chinnaswamy Stadium during the RCB victory celebrations in Bengaluru. The loss of 11 lives in this tragedy has filled the hearts of the people. In this context, it was reported that a committee headed by Justice John Michael Cunha has given a report that this stadium is not safe for large events. Due to this, there was a possibility of shifting the 2026 IPL matches from Bengaluru to Pune due to security reasons.
DK Shivakumar promises DK Shivakumar spoke to the media after casting his vote in the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) elections. He assured that Bengaluru should always be a prominent cricket hub and international matches will not go anywhere from here.
Resolution of issues: He said that all the issues related to the stadium will be resolved, the stadium will be used within legal limits and with proper crowd management.
As a cricket lover..: “I am a cricket lover. RCB is our pride. I will fix all the issues and ensure that the 2026 IPL matches are held at the Chinnaswamy Stadium,” he assured.
New stadium mention DK Shivakumar also mentioned that another big stadium is being planned in the city to avoid such problems in the future.
Overall, RCB fans breathed a sigh of relief with DK Shivakumar’s announcement. They will get the opportunity to watch matches at their home ground in the next IPL season as well
