Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru have continued their run in the Indian Premier League 2026, winning four out of five matches and climbing to the top of the points table. With impressive performances in both batting and bowling departments, RCB recently secured a hat-trick of victories with a win over Lucknow in Bengaluru. In that match, Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood was adjudged Player of the Match for his disciplined bowling performance.
An interesting trend has emerged this season, as all four Player of the Match awards for RCB have been won by overseas players. Jacob Duffy (vs Sunrisers Hyderabad), Tim David (vs Chennai Super Kings), Phil Salt (vs Mumbai Indians), and Hazlewood (vs Lucknow) have all bagged the honours. Since 2025, ten different players have won POTM awards for RCB — a feat unmatched by any other franchise. Hazlewood credited his success to maintaining tight line and length, overcoming injury setbacks, and strong team support, especially from teammates like Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
