The opening T20 clash between India and Australia at Canberra ended in frustration for players and fans as heavy rain forced the match to be abandoned. India were in a dominant position at 97/1 in 9.4 overs, with Suryakumar Yadav playing a captain’s knock on 39* and Shubman Gill steady at 37*.
After Australia opted to bowl first, India’s top order looked in great touch, attacking from the start despite overcast conditions. The duo’s intent promised a big total before rain interrupted play and eventually washed out the match.
With the series now level at 0-0, both teams will shift their focus to the 2nd T20. India will aim to carry their batting momentum forward, while Australia will look to regroup and exploit home conditions more effectively in the next encounter.
