

Indian badminton stars P. V. Sindhu, Lakshya Sen and the men’s doubles pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty advanced to the quarterfinals of the Thailand Open with dominant victories in the second round on Thursday. Sixth seed Sindhu defeated Denmark’s Amalie Schulz 21-13, 21-15 in straight games, while seventh seed Lakshya Sen registered a comfortable 21-12, 21-13 win over China’s Zhu Xuan Chen.
In men’s doubles, Satwik and Chirag overcame Malaysia’s Jeremy Goh Ting and Muhammad Haikal 21-12, 21-19 to book their place in the last eight. However, it was a disappointing day for Kidambi Srikanth, who bowed out after losing 16-21, 21-11, 8-21 to Su Li Yang of Chinese Taipei. Indian shuttlers Devika Sihag and Malvika Bansod also suffered defeats in their respective second-round matches.
