Indian badminton star P. V. Sindhu advanced to the women's singles quarter-finals of the Arctic Open Super 500 tournament with a convincing 21-15, 21-15 victory over Japan's Riko Gunji in the second round. The Indian shuttler, who won the Japan Open Super 750 title in July, displayed composure at crucial moments to secure her place in the last eight. Sindhu will now face Thailand's top seed and former world champion Ratchanok Intanon, who defeated India's Tanvi Sharma 21-18, 21-7 to progress to the quarter-finals.
Meanwhile, former world No. 1 Kidambi Srikanth suffered an early exit from the men's singles competition. In a closely contested match, the Indian won the opening game 21-15 against Canada's Brian Yang but lost the next two games 15-21, 13-21 to bow out of the tournament. Sindhu's victory provided a positive result for India, while Srikanth's defeat ended his campaign in the opening round.
