India’s star weightlifter Mirabai Chanu and boxer Lovlina Borgohain have been given a prestigious honour by being named the flag bearers for India at the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games. The announcement was made by the Indian Olympic Association, recognizing their outstanding contributions to Indian sports on the global stage.
A total of 124 Indian athletes will participate in various disciplines at the Commonwealth Games, which will be held in Glasgow. The opening ceremony is scheduled for the 23rd of this month, where Mirabai and Lovlina will lead the Indian contingent. IOA President P. T. Usha stated that both athletes have consistently proven themselves internationally and bring pride to the nation.
