The Kal Somani consortium has expressed disappointment over losing the opportunity to acquire the IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals. However, the group clarified that it had not withdrawn from the bidding process voluntarily. According to the consortium, delays in fund mobilization affected its participation, while steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal & Co reportedly secured the franchise for ₹15,600 crore.
The Somani-led group alleged that it was pressured during the process and denied claims that it exited the bidding. In its official statement, the consortium said it had requested six months to complete the process and that there was no shortage of funds. It also insisted that it had not withdrawn from the bidding, contradicting the franchise management’s announcement.
