Pakistan Investigates Imam-ul-Haq’s Injury After England Test Controversy

Pakistan’s selection committee is set to investigate Imam-ul-Haq’s reported muscle injury after the batter did not come out to bat in either innings of the second Test against England. Imam cited muscle stiffness as the reason for remaining in the dugout, but questions were subsequently raised over the nature of his injury. Former Pakistan chief selector Mohammad Wasim also criticised the batter, while selection committee member Aaqib Javed said the matter would be investigated and appropriate action would be taken if any wrongdoing was established. Imam was also seen warming up with strapping on his legs, prompting further debate, while former England pacer Stuart Broad questioned the need for such a display if the injury was genuine.

Pakistan have already made several changes following their defeats in the first two Tests, with Imam among the seven players reportedly dropped. There are also fresh concerns over captain Babar Azam, who is reportedly suffering from a high fever ahead of the third Test at Edgbaston on September 9. While his participation remains uncertain, Pakistan Cricket Board sources are hopeful that Babar will recover in time and regain full fitness. Imam has also reportedly been seeking legal advice amid the controversy surrounding his injury.
