The International Cricket Council has responded to Pakistan’s announcement of boycotting group-stage matches against India in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The ICC clarified that it has not received any official communication from the Pakistan Cricket Board regarding the decision. Emphasizing mutual respect and sportsmanship, the ICC urged PCB to reconsider its stand, keeping long-term implications in mind.
The ICC stated that its tournaments are conducted with sporting integrity, competitiveness, fairness, and stability at their core. Participation of qualified teams is essential to uphold the spirit of the game, and any violation of regulations undermines the sanctity of cricket. While respecting the role of governments in national policy matters, the ICC noted that Pakistan’s decision is unacceptable to the global cricket community and fans. It expressed hope that PCB would take a prudent decision considering the future of cricket and its popularity within the country.
