The World Cup-winning Indian women’s cricket team met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his official residence in New Delhi on Wednesday, November 5, to celebrate their historic triumph at the 2025 ICC Women’s ODI World Cup. PM Modi warmly congratulated the team, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, for their inspiring comeback after a challenging start to the tournament.
During the meeting, the Indian players, along with head coach Amol Muzumdar, presented a special signed Team India jersey to the Prime Minister as a token of gratitude and pride. PM Modi praised the team’s spirit, resilience, and the way they united the nation through their incredible performance in the final at DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai.
Captain Harmanpreet Kaur expressed her joy, recalling their previous meeting with PM Modi in 2017 after finishing runners-up. “That time, we met him without the trophy. This time, we met him with it — and we hope to keep meeting him again with more trophies,” Harmanpreet said, reflecting the team’s hunger for continued success.
