MS Dhoni’s absence throughout the ongoing IPL season has left Chennai Super Kings fans deeply disappointed. The legendary cricketer, who shares an inseparable bond with the IPL and CSK franchise, did not feature in a single match this season despite being part of the squad. Ahead of the tournament, CSK management had announced that Dhoni would miss a few weeks due to a muscle injury. However, even as the league reached its final stages, the 44-year-old wicketkeeper-batter remained unavailable for selection.
While fans initially believed Dhoni had not fully recovered from his injury, CSK batting coach Michael Hussey recently revealed that the veteran cricketer also suffered a thumb injury. Hussey further confirmed that Dhoni had returned to his hometown Ranchi during the recovery period. Meanwhile, emotional scenes unfolded after CSK’s match against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Chennai, where players reportedly congratulated Dhoni in a farewell-like manner, sparking speculation about a possible retirement from the IPL. Regardless, the season marked the first time an entire IPL edition passed without Dhoni playing a single game.
