PCB chairman and Asian Cricket Council chairman Mohsin Naqvi is reportedly set to attend the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 final as the chief guest for the trophy presentation. The final is scheduled for September 13, with the league stage currently nearing its conclusion and India already through to the semi-finals. Naqvi’s reported presence has sparked speculation, particularly because of last year’s controversy involving the Asia Cup trophy presentation.
In the previous men’s Asia Cup final, India defeated Pakistan but reportedly declined to receive the trophy from Naqvi, who simultaneously headed the PCB and ACC. The trophy presentation subsequently became a controversy, with Naqvi taking the trophy away instead of handing it over to the Indian team. With India among the favourites in the women’s tournament and having recently defeated Pakistan, attention is now focused on how the trophy presentation could unfold if the two teams meet in the final. However, the reported arrangements and Naqvi’s exact role at the presentation will be closely watched.
