Mitchell Starc Dethrones Jasprit Bumrah to Become No.1 ICC Test Bowler

Australia’s Mitchell Starc has dethroned India’s Jasprit Bumrah to claim the No.1 position in the latest ICC Men’s Test Bowling Rankings for the first time in his career. The 36-year-old left-arm pacer climbed to the summit after his sensational 10-wicket haul against Bangladesh in the second Test at Mackay. Starc returned figures of 6/12 and 4/39 as Australia secured an innings-and-51-run victory. He now has 872 rating points, while Bumrah is second with 862.

Bumrah’s latest stint at the top lasted two months, but he has spent a remarkable 697 days as the No.1-ranked Test bowler, the most by any Indian bowler and the 14th-most overall. Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant made a strong comeback in the Test batting rankings, returning to the top 10 after a year and moving up six places to seventh. England’s Harry Brook retained the No.1 batting position, with Joe Root in second.
