State Labour Minister and Visaka Industries Chairman G. Vivek Venkataswamy, in association with the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA), has announced the Kaka Venkataswamy Memorial Telangana Inter-district T20 Tournament. Scheduled from December 22, 2025, to January 17, 2026, the tournament aims to strengthen grassroots cricket across Telangana. The announcement was made at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Uppal, with Visaka Industries as the sponsor.
Speaking at the launch, Vivek, a former HCA president, said the tournament is a tribute to his father, G. Venkataswamy (Kaka), a former Congress Working Committee member and a keen cricket enthusiast. He said the initiative focuses on organised cricket development at the mandal, town, and district levels, recalling how his father introduced him and his brother, former HCA president G. Vinod, to the sport.
Former HCA secretary N. Shivlal Yadav highlighted Venkataswamy’s role in the construction of the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium. The tournament will be held in two phases, starting with 29 district teams and later forming a 10-team pool including Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy. Players under 25 who have not represented HCA–BCCI teams are eligible, with prize money of ₹5 lakh for winners and cash awards for top performers.
