

Defending champions Argentina completed the FIFA World Cup group stage with a commanding 3-1 victory over Jordan, securing their third consecutive win. Lionel Messi entered the match as a second-half substitute and produced another memorable moment by scoring a stunning free-kick in the 80th minute. Giovani Lo Celso and Lautaro Martinez added the other goals for Argentina, while Musa Al Tamari scored Jordan’s lone goal. Argentina advanced to the knockout stage as group winners with an unbeaten record.
DR Congo also made history by defeating Uzbekistan 3-1 to register their first-ever FIFA World Cup victory and qualify for the knockout stage after a 52-year wait. Yoane Wissa scored twice, while Fiston Mayele added another goal. The tournament also witnessed a record eight African nations reaching the knockout rounds, including Morocco, Senegal, South Africa, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Cape Verde and Egypt. Austria, Algeria and Croatia also advanced, while England finished top of their group.
