Messi Buys the House Next Door.. Here’s Why!

Football superstar Lionel Messi is expanding his real estate holdings in South Florida. After purchasing a waterfront home in Fort Lauderdale’s Bay Colony for $10.8 million in 2023, Messi has reportedly acquired the property next door for around $8 million. His first residence features eight bedrooms, about 10,400 square feet of living space and 170 feet of waterfront.

By acquiring neighboring property, Messi can combine the spaces and gain greater control over the area surrounding his home. The strategy of purchasing an adjoining property primarily to expand and control the surrounding land is often referred to in real estate as “landmaxxing.” Messi already has an extensive property portfolio in South Florida and has also acquired four units at Cipriani Residences Miami, according to reports.
