The upcoming IPL match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Uppal Stadium has triggered a major controversy over alleged black market ticket sales. Reports suggest that tickets originally priced at ₹1,000 are being sold for ₹10,000–₹20,000, while premium ₹10,000 tickets are allegedly reaching up to ₹1 lakh or more. With Virat Kohli’s massive fan following and the match being the last home game of the season in Hyderabad, demand has skyrocketed, leading to tickets selling out within seconds on official platforms like the District app.
Fans have raised concerns over suspicious rapid sell-outs, long virtual queues, and possible bot activity. Cybercriminals are also exploiting the demand by circulating fake ticket links on social media and messaging apps, demanding payments through UPI. Police have launched investigations into black marketing near Uppal Stadium and warned of strict action against offenders. Authorities also suspect misuse of complimentary and advance ticket allocations, similar to past incidents reported in other IPL venues.
