India suffered a major setback in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8 match as South Africa registered a commanding 76-run victory at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Chasing a challenging target of 188 runs, Team India struggled throughout the innings and were bowled out for just 111 runs, failing to build momentum against a disciplined South African bowling attack.

Earlier, South Africa posted 187 for seven after electing to bat first. Despite losing three early wickets for just 20 runs, David Miller’s brilliant 63 and Dewald Brevis’ 45 steadied the innings, while Tristan Stubbs’ unbeaten 44 provided a strong finish. Jasprit Bumrah impressed with three wickets and became India’s leading wicket-taker in T20 World Cup history. In response, India’s batting collapsed early, with Marco Jansen claiming four wickets, while Shivam Dube’s fighting 42 proved insufficient to prevent defeat.
