Table tennis star Manika Batra has expressed strong dissatisfaction over her exclusion from India’s Asian Games squad. She has warned the federation that she may take legal action if no clear explanation is provided for her omission. Manika also urged the intervention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya regarding the issue.
Manika, currently ranked 51 in the world, questioned the selection criteria and asked why rankings fluctuations were considered. She also pointed out that players with historic achievements, including medal winners like Ayhika Mukherjee, were left out. The Asian Games are scheduled to be held in Japan from September 19 to October 4.
