The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced a significant change in the schedule of the inaugural Women's Champions Trophy. Originally planned for June-July 2027, the tournament will now be held in February 2027 following approval at the ICC quarterly meeting held in Ahmedabad under the leadership of ICC Chairman Jay Shah.
The tournament will feature 10 teams, including five Full Members and five Associate Nations, marking a major step forward for the growth of women's cricket. ICC officials decided to advance the event to avoid scheduling conflicts with other international commitments and the Women's T20 World Cup, ensuring better participation and visibility for the competition.
