At a crucial stage of the IPL 2026 league phase, Kolkata Knight Riders kept their playoff hopes alive with an impressive four-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, KKR bowlers dominated the powerplay and reduced Mumbai to 41/4 early in the innings. Cameron Green and Saurabh Dubey delivered disciplined spells to dismantle Mumbai’s top order. Skipper Hardik Pandya scored 26 while Tilak Varma added 20, but Mumbai struggled to build partnerships. A late counterattack from Corbin Bosch, who smashed an unbeaten 32 off 18 balls with three fours and two sixes, helped Mumbai post a fighting total of 147/8 in 20 overs.
Chasing 148, Kolkata also faced early setbacks after losing quick wickets. Ajinkya Rahane and Cameron Green failed to convert their starts, leaving KKR under pressure at 54/3. Senior batter Manish Pandey, playing his first match of the season, anchored the innings brilliantly with a composed 45 off 33 balls. Rovman Powell supported him with a powerful 40 off 30 deliveries as the duo stitched together a match-winning 64-run partnership. Despite Corbin Bosch claiming three wickets for Mumbai, KKR comfortably chased down the target in 18.5 overs to register a vital victory. With this win, Kolkata moved to 13 points and stayed firmly in contention for a playoff berth.
