The International Cricket Council has announced key updates regarding the T20 World Cup semi-final venues. Due to certain conditions, additional venues have been finalized. Under the new playing conditions, Sri Lanka has the opportunity to play a home semi-final in Colombo’s R. Premadasa Stadium if they qualify and face a team other than India or Pakistan.
If Pakistan qualifies for the semi-finals, Semi-final 1 will be held in Colombo. Even if Pakistan fails to qualify, but Sri Lanka qualifies and faces a team other than India, the match will still be played in Colombo. However, if both Sri Lanka and Pakistan fail to qualify, the match will shift to Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The second semi-final will be held at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
If India qualifies for the semi-finals, their match will be held in Mumbai regardless of the opponent. However, an India–Pakistan semi-final will be shifted to Colombo. If none of India, Pakistan, or Sri Lanka qualify, matchups will be decided based on Super 8 group standings, with games scheduled in Kolkata and Mumbai.
