Junior Asia Cup Hockey: Women’s Team Storm into Quarterfinals

India continued its impressive campaign at the Junior Asia Cup hockey tournament with a commanding 7-3 victory over Korea in a Pool A encounter. Captain Anmol Ekka led the charge with two goals, while Loveneur Singh, Ajeet Singh, Prabhdeep Singh, Gurusewak Singh and Aryan also found the net. After both sides battled closely for three quarters and the score stood level at 3-3, India stepped up its attacking game in the final quarter to take complete control of the match.

With two wins and a draw from three Pool A games, India have seven points and currently occupy the top spot. The team can secure a semifinal berth with a victory over Chinese Taipei on Wednesday. In the women’s tournament, India produced another dominant display, defeating Japan 7-0 in an Elite Pool match. Krishna Sharma, Supriya, Purnima Yadav, Geeta Yadav and Sanika scored for India, with Geeta and Purnima among the multiple scorers. Having won all three of their matches, India finished at the top of the pool with nine points and advanced to the quarterfinals.
