India's campaign in the Japan Open Badminton Tournament suffered a major blow after Lakshya Sen and Ayush Shetty crashed out in the men's singles first round. Lakshya Sen was defeated in straight games by Japan's Koki Watanabe, ending his campaign earlier than expected.
Ayush Shetty put up a spirited fight against Thailand's Kunlavut Vitidsarn but failed to convert his chances and exited the tournament. Their early elimination has come as a setback for India, while attention now shifts to the remaining Indian shuttlers competing in the tournament.
