

Sri Lanka were bowled out for 284 in their first innings on Day 3 of the opening Test against India in Galle. India, who had posted 462 in their first innings, secured a substantial 178-run lead. The hosts’ innings was held together by Sonal Dinusha, who scored a fighting 100, but India’s bowlers kept striking at regular intervals. The match was also affected by rain, which brought an early end to play.
Left-arm spinner Manav Suthar was the standout bowler for India, claiming four wickets for 76 runs. Ravindra Jadeja picked up three wickets, while Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna and Kuldeep Yadav took one wicket each. Despite Dinusha’s century and Niroshan Dickwella’s valuable 80, Sri Lanka could not prevent India from establishing a strong position in the first Test.
