“Is It Sunday Today?”: Irfan Pathan’s Four-Word Troll After India’s Rout of Pakistan Goes Viral

Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan took a cheeky dig at Pakistan with just four words after India’s emphatic Asia Cup victory. India bowled Pakistan out for just 55 runs and then chased down the target in only 8.5 overs. Reacting to the one-sided contest, Pathan posted, “Aaj Sunday Hai Kya?” (Is it Sunday today?), reviving his popular Sunday-themed trolling of Pakistan.

Pathan’s latest post quickly went viral because of its connection with his earlier social-media banter. After India defeated Pakistan at the 2022 T20 World Cup in Melbourne, he had posted, “Padosiyo Sunday kaisa raha?” In the 2024 World Championship of Legends final, Pathan struck the winning shot against Pakistan Champions, with the match extending past midnight into Sunday in India. Adding to the running joke, India defeated Pakistan three times in the 2023 Asia Cup, with all three matches played on Sundays. Former Pakistan great Wasim Akram had also recently joked that after teaching Pathan bowling tricks, the Indian all-rounder was now using them to troll Pakistan.
