With the IPL trade deadline fast approaching, some massive developments seem to be unfolding behind the scenes. If reports are to be believed, Rajasthan Royals (RR) skipper Sanju Samson could be traded to Delhi Capitals (DC) in exchange for South African power-hitter Tristan Stubbs.
Meanwhile, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are reportedly pushing hard to acquire KL Rahul from DC — a move that could completely shake up the dynamics of the upcoming season.
Sources suggest that while Delhi is open to a Stubbs-for-Samson trade, they’re unwilling to part ways with KL Rahul, who played a crucial role for them last season. Interestingly, Samson has previously played for DC (then Delhi Daredevils) and even captained a few matches. His strong rapport with the management could be one of the reasons behind DC’s renewed interest in him.
Tensions between Rajasthan Royals and Samson reportedly began last season when the management decided not to retain Jos Buttler against Samson’s wishes. The star batter was also allegedly kept out of key decisions, further widening the rift. Now, RR is said to be demanding an uncapped player along with Stubbs in exchange for Samson.
On the other hand, KKR, who are looking for a stable captaincy option, view KL Rahul as a perfect fit. However, with DC unwilling to let him go, that trade might not materialize easily.
The IPL trading window closes by mid-November, and the auction is expected to take place in late December — meaning we could be in for some dramatic last-minute surprises.
