Royal Challengers Bengaluru batter Tim David has been suspended for the opening match of IPL 2027 after accumulating five demerit points during the 2026 season. The suspension comes under the IPL Code of Conduct, which mandates an automatic one-match ban once a player reaches the five-point threshold.
David received two additional demerit points during the IPL 2026 final following an incident involving umpire Nitin Menon. According to reports, the Australian batter aggressively threw an ice bag in the umpire’s direction during the 10th over of the match. The incident was classified as his third Level 1 offence of the season, taking his total demerit points to five and resulting in disciplinary action ahead of the next season.
