Key developments are unfolding ahead of the IPL 2026 tournament launch. The management has already decided to sell the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) team, as is well known. Social media buzz suggests a new owner for RCB by March 31, 2026. In this context, another shocking update has emerged. Not just RCB, but another IPL team is also up for sale, according to reports. National media outlets indicate that the Rajasthan Royals (RR) team is being put on the market. Prominent businessman Harsh Goenka confirmed this via a social media post.
Harsh Goenka revealed that not one, but two IPL teams are for sale. The Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru are both being sold. He posted on social media that five major business tycoons are in the race to acquire these teams, with potential new owners hailing from cities like Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Pune. This post has now gone viral.
Meanwhile, the mini auction for the IPL 2026 tournament is scheduled for December 16. Initially planned for Mumbai, the BCCI shifted the event to Abu Dhabi due to unavoidable reasons. The IPL 2026 season will kick off in March, right after the T20 World Cup 2026 concludes. Preliminary details suggest the mega tournament will run from March 15 to May 31.
