IPL 2026: Lucknow Secures Resounding Victory Over Chennai

In IPL 2026, the Lucknow Super Giants delivered a magnificent performance to secure a resounding seven-wicket victory over the Chennai team. Batting first, Chennai posted a total of 187 runs for the loss of five wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Karthik Sharma starred with a brilliant knock of 71 runs off 42 balls, while Shivam Dube remained unbeaten on 32 runs. Dewald Brevis also contributed to the team's total with 25 runs. Among the Lucknow bowlers, Akash Singh claimed three crucial wickets, putting the Chennai side under significant pressure.

Chasing a target of 188 runs, the Lucknow team adopted an aggressive approach right from the start. Mitchell Marsh played a destructive innings, smashing 90 runs off just 38 balls to completely swing the match in Lucknow's favor. Josh Inglis provided valuable support with a solid contribution of 36 runs, while Nicholas Pooran played a quickfire cameo, scoring 32 runs off 17 balls. In the closing stages, Mukul Chaudhary guided the team across the finish line with 13 runs.

For Chennai, bowlers Mukesh Chaudhary and Spencer Johnson claimed one wicket each; however, they were unable to contain the aggressive onslaught of the Lucknow batters. The Lucknow team successfully chased down the target in just 16.4 overs, losing only three wickets in the process. With this victory, the Lucknow team has further strengthened its position on the points table.
