The IPL 2026 Auction, scheduled for December 16 in Abu Dhabi, is gearing up for a fierce bidding war as the BCCI has released the final list of players. Out of the 1,390 cricketers who registered globally, only 350 players have been shortlisted based on franchise interest. The list includes 240 Indian players.
With only 77 total vacancies available across the ten franchises, competition is expected to be extremely intense this year. South African wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock has been added to the final list, registering with a base price of ₹1 crore. Australian veteran Steve Smith, who last played IPL in 2021, has also entered the auction with a base price of ₹2 crore.
Each franchise can pick 46 Indian players and 31 overseas players in total. Among Indian players, names like Venkatesh Iyer, Prithvi Shaw, and Sarfaraz Khan could attract strong bidding. Among overseas stars, Australian all-rounder Cameron Green is expected to be the most sought-after player. Others likely to generate heavy interest include Rachin Ravindra, Devon Conway, Josh Inglis, David Miller, Jake Fraser-McGurk, and Wanindu Hasaranga.
With the official release of the final list, excitement around the IPL 2026 Auction has reached new heights. Fans and franchises alike are eagerly waiting for December 16, when the auction action is expected to produce some major bidding wars.
