The venue for the first ODI between India and Sri Lanka, scheduled for December 13 during Sri Lanka’s tour of India, may be changed, according to reports. The match is currently scheduled to take place at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium. However, renovation work planned at the venue has reportedly prompted discussions about shifting the game to another stadium.
The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) is planning to upgrade the stadium’s facilities, including its drainage system, pitches and outfield. The improved drainage is expected to help water clear from the ground more quickly after rainfall. As the renovation work may take several months, some domestic matches during the 2026–27 Ranji Trophy season could also be moved to the Palam Ground.
Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium is reportedly being considered as an alternative venue for the first ODI, but the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not made an official announcement. The ODI series is scheduled for December 13 in Delhi, December 16 in Bengaluru and December 19 in Ahmedabad. The T20I series is scheduled for December 22 in Rajkot, December 24 in Cuttack and December 27 in Pune. The final venue for the opening ODI will be clear only after an official confirmation.
